A DANGEROUS PAST (Or is it?)
Love warms the heart, and boy can we all use a little more warmth
here in Ohio right now! I’m excited to introduce readers to Gabe Elliot and
Brinna Jenson. She was the fiancée he left behind ten years ago, and he is recently
back in town as the new police chaplain. An unexpected deathbed confession
forces Gabe to dig into a past which might dredge up painful memories for
Brinna’s family. With her expertise as a historian, Brinna knows she must work
with Gabe to defend her family name and assure the whole truth comes out. But
with shadowy figures and mysterious threats all around them, will finding the
truth put more than just their wounded hearts in danger?
I’m so happy that readers can finally read Gabe and Brinna’s
story. I really loved crafting these characters and immersing myself in their
lives. They have both been through a lot and they are stronger because of it.
Still, they both have more healing to do and as their rekindled
relationship grows, so does their faith and their hope for the future. The memories that used to hurt them, become reminders of love.
Sometimes the past feels like a dangerous thing. We look
back at mistakes we made or trauma we endured, and the memories threaten to
only bring pain. Or sometimes we remember all the good times from the past and that
makes today’s hardships feel even harder. But the past can also be a reason to
hope! When we look back, we can see just how far we’ve come. We see the things
we survived, the things we learned, and the things we can celebrate today.
I hope you have
reason to celebrate today. What are your triumphs? What wisdom have you gained?
What joy has stayed with you ? How much love have you shared and received? That’s
what the past is about—not what we leave behind, but what we carry forward.
